ST. LOUIS — A severe thunderstorm expected in the St. Louis region Sunday night could bring hail as large as tennis balls and 60 m.p.h. winds.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Mark Britt said there's also a "very low threat" for tornadoes as the St. Louis area is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 10 p.m. Sunday.
Nearly 50 Missouri counties and the city of St. Louis were included in the watch issued at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The entire effected area included portions of eastern and central Missouri as well as central and southwest Illinois.
A quarter to a half-inch of rain is possible in the St. Louis area, Britt said.
