3 wanted for stealing and assaulting special police officer

WASHINGTON — DC Police are searching for three people accused of beating up a special police officer inside a grocery store.

On Saturday, police were called to the 400 block of 14th Street for reports of an assault just before 9:30 a.m. According to the police report, employees at the Safeway saw the three suspects trying to leave the store with stolen items stuffed inside a stroller.

As the suspects tried to leave, one of the employees tried to retrieve the items. One of the suspects then turns around and punches the employee in the face multiple times. During the assault, a second employee tried to get the stolen items out of the stroller.
