DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) -- Surveillance video obtained by CBS 17 shows the terrifying moments Saturday night when an 11-year-old girl runs into the lobby of the Durham Rescue Mission, bleeding after being shot minutes before.
“About, maybe 10:10, we heard loud gunshots, like boom boom boom boom, several of them,” said James Madison, director assistant of the Durham Rescue Mission.
Minutes later, a car sped into the parking lot of the Rescue Mission. In the surveillance video, a woman is seen trying to get the child out of the car's backseat. The girl eventually limps into the lobby with that woman and another man.
Where exactly the shooting happened and what led up to it is still under investigation. Durham police said the shooting was in the area of Morning Glory Avenue and Elm Street.
