The Arizona Department of Transportation reported early Sunday that a section of Chandler freeway had reopened after having been closed for many hours due to a fatal crash.

Eastbound Loop 202 at McClintock Drive was closed for hours after the three-vehicle crash, which the Arizona Department of Public Safety told media outlets happened slightly after 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7.

The driver of one of the vehicles in the crash fled the scene and was soon apprehended by Chandler Police, according to a CPD spokesperson. But DPS hasn't said yet who the person is or whether there will be charges or citations.

Westbound Loop 202 traffic was not affected.
