MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A student at a Memphis college who threatened to shoot up the school was arrested several days later with a gun on campus, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).

MPD said a student at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology, 19-year-old Terrence Jones, sent another student a text on Monday warning the other student not to come to school because he was "going to shoot up the classroom and kill himself." Police said Jones takes a welding class at the college.

Officers were originally unable to get in touch with a representative of the college, but police conducted a follow-up visit to the school on Thursday.
