“Much-needed” investment in Gloucester health services helping to “lift the NHS off its knees with more GP appointments” and making hospitals “fit for the future” has been welcomed by city MP Alex McIntyre. The Government is investing £102m in 1,000 GP surgeries across the country. And Matson Lane surgery is expected to benefit from this utilisation and modernisation fund.

This will be used to enhance the use of existing infrastructure, create additional capacity and enable additional appointments. Gloucestershire Royal Hospital is also getting more than £9.7m for upgrades to its water systems, fire safety works and internal and external building fabric and fixtures.

Alex McIntyre said: “It’s fantastic to see this Labour government delivering much needed investment here in Gloucester.
