Gloucester city centre will continue to have a post office but MP Alex McIntyre says the campaign is not over to keep it at its current Kings Square site. Hundreds of people have backed the Labour MP’s petition to save the Kings Square Post Office branch from closure.

Post Office bosses revealed in November that up to 115 of its wholly-owned branches, branches and hundreds of jobs are at risk as part of a shake-up of the business. The plans involve other arrangements such as franchises where an operator could take on the branches.

The MP has welcomed news that the post office will be staying in the city centre. However, he says the campaign to make sure it stays in Kings Square is not over yet.
