A mum is warning others against avoiding their smear test after being diagnosed with cervical cancer after eight years of putting it off. Toyah Myall, 33, said she was "scared" to go for her smear previously, but finally decided to put on her "big girl pants" and go in February 2025.

The mum-of-four said she only had to go through "two minutes of being uncomfortable", but received a call two weeks later to tell her they had found abnormal cancer cells. A biopsy confirmed she had squamous cell carcinoma - a type of cervical cancer in March 2025.

She underwent two rounds of laser treatment before she was given the all-clear in May 2025. Now she is raising awareness to make sure others don't put off their smear test.
