Demand for electricity is set to double by 2050 with more homes and businesses needing power, including heating and transport.

It is also hoped the upgrade will provide more green electricity to support people day-to-day.

The work has been ongoing since March 2023 and focused on replacing two ageing transformers and upgrading other substation equipment that had reached the end of its operational life.
