One of the four suspects in a kidnapping plot last summer was recently sentenced to 20 years in prison on federal charges.
Eli Elbert, 44, had been charged locally for kidnapping, aggravated burglary, conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery, but they were dropped on May 1 because of the federal charges.
On May 29, Chief U.S. District Judge Scott W. Skavdahl sentenced Elbert in two separate criminal cases to 240 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
In one case, Elbert was charged with being a felon in possession of ammunition. In the second case, Elbert was charged with conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and use of a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime.
