One of the Green Bay Packers’ strangest sagas in recent history — a history replete with strangeness — has apparently taken its final surprising turn. The Packers and Jaire Alexander have finally settled on a plan for the Pro Bowl cornerback’s future, and it will not be in Green Bay.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Rob Demovsky , the Packers are going to release Alexander from his contract shortly.

Alexander’s contract, which ran through 2026, was set to pay him $17.5 million in cash this season and carry a salary cap hit of $24.6 million. By releasing him after June 1st, the Packers will free up over $17 million in cap space for this season, carrying about $7.5 million in dead money in 2025. The team will then absorb $9.5 million in dead money in 2026, which is the remainder
