Signs of President Donald Trump’s authoritarianism are many: ignoring the rule of law, due process and the Supreme Court. He also said “I don’t know” when asked if it was his duty to uphold the Constitution after pledging at his inauguration as President to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, so help me God.”

Having won the presidency by a narrow margin and now well below 50 percent in the polls, he wants to dominate every area of society. He has gone after law firms, universities and the media. His reputation for vindictiveness has inhibited prominent people, businesses and institutions from speaking their minds about him for fear of retribution. He also called for the impeachment of judges who disagreed with him.
