(InvestigateTV) - One blind paraprofessional is trying to show his students that his disability does not hold him back.

Anthony Parker is teaching fourth and fifth graders at Baton Rouge’s Dufrocq School the alphabet in Braille.

It’s something he learned when he was five after completely losing his eyesight at the age of three, but Parker wants to teach them a bigger lesson than what’s on their papers.

“Blind people or individuals who are impaired in any way are just like everybody else,” explained Parker.

That’s exactly what Principal Dr. Kia Davis thought when Parker applied for an opening last year. Once he joined Dufrocq in November, he officially became the school’s first visually impaired staff member. Although it’s been a bit of a learning curve for Parker, Davis said she’s been
