What a blast it was, when Cornwall Armed Forces Day festivities got underway early on Sunday afternoon in Lamoureux Park.

The event had representatives from the Friends of Crysler’s Farm Battlefield stationed near the bike path just west of the bandshell, for a ceremonial firing of their Napoleonic-Era six-pound cannon; six pounds is the weight of the cannonball, and while only blanks were fired three times, it was thunderous at the river’s edge and possibly across a large swath of the city and Kawehno:ke.

Kawehno:ke was where a weekend of military-themed events began on Saturday night, a second-annual Friendship Lacrosse Game, with Akwesasne recording an 8-3 win at A’nowara’ko:wa Arena over members of the Royal Canadian Air Force – the instructors at the Canadian Forces School of Ae
