A 16-year-old was killed after a firearm discharged in front of a group of juveniles on Friday, June 6 in Camden, authorities said.

At 12:35 p.m., officers responded to the 1500 block of Thorn Street and found Xyere Brooks with a gunshot wound inside of the residence, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office. 

Brooks was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:15 p.m., prosecutors said. 

Multiple juveniles were determined to have been in the residence at the time of the incident, police said. Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances under which the firearm was discharged, authorities said.

No criminal charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
