LOGAN — A 47-year-old Lewiston man has been sentenced to at least five years in prison for raping a woman and molesting a young girl for several years. David Garcia has been in the Cache County Jail for over a year , since being arrested Feb. 9, 2024.

According to court records, Garcia was sentenced June 4 in Logan’s 1st District Court. He previously accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to attempted aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony; and two counts of sex abuse of a child, amended to a second-degree felony.

In July 2023, a woman reached out to CAPSA, a nonprofit domestic violence, sexual abuse and rape recovery center. She explained how she and her children had been victims of sexual and physical abuse for several years.
