Gananoque is preparing to celebrate Canada Day with a packed lineup of family-friendly events, live entertainment and a fireworks display on July 1.

The celebration kicks off in Town Hall Park from 3 to 4 p.m., where magician and comedian Rob Driscoll will entertain audiences with a lively mix of humour and illusion.

Later in the evening, the action shifts to Joel Stone Park beginning at 8 p.m., where community leaders, including the town crier, poet laureate and other dignitaries, will address the crowd and lead a rendition of the national anthem.

The ever-popular local band Chickenwire will then take the stage, setting the mood with live music into the evening hours.
