On Friday, Dr. Phil McGraw brought a camera crew out in Los Angeles to film the Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids that sparked widespread protests. His goal? To get footage for a two-part series to be aired on his conservative TV network, MeritTV.

Back in January, Dr. Phil, who is not a law-enforcement officer or a licensed psychologist, embedded with ICE officials in Chicago in order to film a livestream , according to CNN . Federal agents assisting with the crackdowns were reportedly told to be camera-ready. But this time, in L.A., Dr. Phil apparently stayed home “in order to not escalate any situation,” a channel spokesperson told CNN.
