SMITH COUNTY, Texas — Smith County Emergency Services District 2 was dispatched around 1:30 p.m. today after calls came in about a dog trapped in a storm drain.
According to spokesperson Nikki Simmons, the dog proved difficult to catch due to her size and skittishness.
Simmons said the firefighters had to be cautious when approaching the dog to ensure they did not get bit.
After some time, the crew was able to safely remove the animal. Once the dog was out of the storm drain, local animal control took over the situation.
