With the new sewer infrastructure now complete, the City of Concord began paving work on Willow Pass Road as part of the Willow Pass Repaving Safe Route to Transit (SR2T) Improvement Project. The paving work, which started today, is expected to continue through July. Earlier this week, utility covers—including valves, monuments, and manholes—were lowered in preparation for the repaving. Paving will be completed in two phases. The first phase will involve daytime work in the residential section between Port Chicago Highway and Landana Street. This segment will use a method called cold in-place recycling (CIR), which reuses the existing asphalt by mixing it with other materials and repaving it all in one operation. Work for this phase will begin at Willow Pass Road and Parkside Drive.
