Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is getting called out for hypocrisy after dramatically changing her tune on the use of the National Guard by the president.

Noem on Sunday endorsed President Donald Trump ’s use of troops in Los Angeles in response to protests against immigration arrests, claiming the deployment was necessary because of “bad decisions” by California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D).

She said Trump’s decision was made for “the safety of this community.”

“And that’s one of the reasons why these National Guard soldiers are being federalized: So they can use their special skill set to keep peace,” she said on CBS’s “Face The Nation.”

But she’s also on record opposing the federalization of National Guard troops as an assault on states’ rights.
