LOS ANGELES (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - President Donald Trump sent another 2,000 National Guardsmen and 700 Marines to Los Angeles Monday.

The Marines are being sent to protect federal law enforcement officers and property in greater Los Angeles.

Four days of protests, including a rally on Monday afternoon, have centered around a group of federal buildings downtown.

Officials declared the gatherings unlawful and ordered people to go home.

The Los Angeles Police Department began making some arrests downtown on Monday, dispersing protesters who remained in the Little Tokyo neighborhood with tear gas and flash bangs.
