JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. (KFVS) - Two people were injured after an incident early Saturday morning in southern Illinois.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the area of Business Highway 13 and Ava Road in rural Murphysboro around 3 a.m. on June 7 for a report of a stabbing.

A short time later, another person called the sheriff’s office reporting a man and woman were on his porch covered in blood, claiming they had been stabbed.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the man and woman, identified as Matthew Dunmyer and Nico Harper, with severe wounds on their bodies. The victims were then taken to an area hospital for further treatment.
