WILLIAMS COUNTY, ND (KXNET) — The Williams County Sheriff's Office was recently made aware of a new phone call scam that's going on.
According to a Facebook post, people are getting these calls from individuals who are falsely representing the Sheriff's Office.
They're asking residents to be vigilant if they happen to receive a call with a request for money.
Deputies want to remind people that scammers commonly pretend to be from a known organization, say there is a problem or a prize, pressure you to act right away, and tell you to pay in a specific way.
If you get a suspicious call that asks for personal or payment information, you can contact the Williams County Sheriff's Office on their non-emergency line at (701) 577-7700 or contact the Williams County Dispatch Center at (701) 713
