PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. — A violent confrontation played out in broad daylight Monday afternoon in Paulding County, ending with a man being shot near a busy intersection as stunned drivers looked on.

It all unfolded around 2:25 p.m. near Ridge Road and Cohran Store Road.

According to the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, a man called 911 himself after being shot during a roadside altercation with a man driving a black SUV.

The victim then drove himself to Paulding County Fire Station 5, seeking help. He was rushed to WellStar Paulding Hospital, but he didn’t survive.

Detectives said the suspect took off and has not been found. The victim’s name is being withheld until family members are notified.
