Two deputies, who were at the scene of a shooting in South Carolina Saturday where two people were hurt, wound up getting injured themselves when they were involved in a crash, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department .

Deputies got involved at about 2 p.m., when they responded to reports of a shooting in the 500 block of Calvary Drive , the sheriff’s department said in a news release. That’s in Columbia, near Crane Church Road and not far from Exit 70 on Interstate 20, which is the junction with Fairfield Road.

Deputies found a man who had been shot in the upper body and a woman who was hit by gunfire in the lower body, according to the release. EMS took both shooting victims to an area hospital, the sheriff’s department said. Further information on their conditions was
