The first season of the Mt. Hope High School powerlifting club concluded recently with the staging of the "Purple Power" competition held in Bristol Saturday, Aug. 9, when Huskies' Quentin Smith and Jourdan Cicchinelli, respectively, earned the male and female "Best Lifter" awards for the meet.

The event was conducted under the auspices and sanctioned by the United States Powerlifting Association.

Smith, who will be a senior at MHHS this fall, competed in the boys' 275-pound/125-kilogram class while Cicchinelli, an incoming freshman at MHHS, vied the girls' 132 lb/60kg division.
