Support for the family of a 16-year-old Mount Diablo High student who died in a head-on vehicle crash Saturday generated more than $7,000 in crowdfunding donations by noon Thursday.

In an online fundraiser , the family of Alina Safi characterized her as a “gentle soul” and said she was “known for her radiant smile, her respectful nature and her dream of building a future that would make her family proud.”

The fundraiser received about $7,300 in its first three days.

The crash happened about 4:40 p.m. on Ygnacio Valley Road just east of Oak Grove Road, police said in a statement. Four others, including at least one child, were hospitalized. The child went by air to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland.
