A long stretch of the M20 in Kent will close overnight so that Operation Brock can be removed. The contraflow system has seen lorries queue to cross the English Channel at various times in recent years. It will be turned off between 8pm tonight and 6am Monday morning. The road will be closed between junctions 8 and 9 , heading towards London, and junctions seven and nine heading towards the coast.
The Kent and Medway Resilience Forum deployed the system on the 13-mile section at the start of the school holidays due to expected high passenger numbers at the Kent ports. They say it's being removed due to a decrease in expected tourist traffic.
