A pensioner is fighting for his life after being 'pushed into a parked vehicle' while riding his bike in Salford.

Emergency services were called out to Manchester Road West, in Little Hulton, at 3.15pm on Saturday afternoon (August 16).

Greater Manchester Police received reports that the cyclist, a 70-year-old man, was travelling in the same direction as a car when the driver ploughed into him.

The collision led to the cyclist being pushed into a parked vehicle, leaving him with serious injuries that are described as 'potentially life-threatening'.

He remains in hospital for treatment this afternoon (Sunday).

Officers arrested a 65-year-old man on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
