After last year's controversial decision to not hold a recreational flounder season, North Carolina regulators faced intense public, political and economic pressure to make sure that wouldn't happen again − despite what biologists think is best for the stressed fishery.

That goal could move a step closer this week when the N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission is expected to approve a move to allow anglers to catch more flounder.
