SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The Shreveport Police Department (SPD) is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new mobile command center on August 20 at 11 a.m. at Cedar Grove Park.
The event will celebrate the activation of the new command center, a replacement for the department's 30-year-old previous unit.
The state-of-the-art new $1 million unit was purchased with funds from the 2021 bond and is expected to enhance SPD's ability to respond to emergencies, large-scale incidents, and community events.
Members of the media and the community are invited to see the new resources in person. Parking will be available north of the basketball courts at Cedar Grove Park.
