As Hurricane Erin grows in size, impacts from the storm’s intensity will be felt “well outside” the storm’s center, including in Hampton Roads.
Eswar Iyer, a lead meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Wakefield, said the forecast Tuesday had minimal change from Monday, but confidence in the forecasts has grown.
“Given that Erin is going to be a very large storm when it tracks offshore the Outer Banks , the main impact for our area, of course, will be wind near the coast and moderate to major tidal flooding and also significant erosion,” Iyer said.
Wakefield meteorologists said Tuesday that some outer bands of rain may clip eastern portions of the Hampton Roads region on Wednesday evening into Thursday. This potentially could bring localized areas of heavy rain and stronge
