MCLENNAN COUNTY, Texas (FOX 44) — At Enel North America's Roseland Solar Farm just outside of Waco, the work goes beyond producing electricity. The site is also home to a thriving apiary that supports veterans and pollinators.

Through a partnership with Hives for Heroes, a nonprofit that pairs veterans with experienced beekeepers, Enel set aside a plot of land for hives. A local veteran beekeeper tends to them weekly, sometimes with the assistance of trainees. The honey harvested supports the nonprofit’s “Hero Honey” program or is sold locally to boost small producers.

"It's kind of a mutually beneficial deal we got going with them, with Hives for Heroes. We just naturally have a bunch of pollinator plants growing on our site, just as far as the natural vegetation goes," said Evean Herri
