WATERVLIET, N.Y. (NEWS10) -Students and visitors of the Watervliet Junior Senior High School District will have to walk through metal detectors when entering the building and attending outside sporting events starting this September. The District bought two of them at $25,000 each.

“We’ve seen an increase in behaviors of some juveniles within the city. We are just taking a proactive measure to make sure that nothing transpires into the school setting,” said Superintendent Donald Stevens.

Back in June, a 14-year-old girl stabbed another girl during a fight on 13th street. There was also a fight at the Watervliet McDonald's where a 16-year-old punched a police officer.
