JAMES CITY — Police are looking for the person who shot a man several times at a James City County apartment complex early Saturday.

The victim, who was not identified, was taken to VCU Medical Center in Richmond for treatment of his injuries, according to a news release by James City County police on Tuesday. His condition was not disclosed.

The shooting occurred about 12:20 a.m. Saturday in the 4900 block of Grand Strand Drive, which is off Longhill Road. The suspect fled the scene, but was later identified as Devante Gregory Lewis, the release said. Lewis is charged with aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
