Kyrene School District is holding the second governing board meeting of the month on Aug. 19 and will be covering employee pay raises and an update on the Kyrene de la Sierra roof construction.

Kyrene de la Sierra Elementary school closed temporarily on Aug. 3 due to construction and caution around air contaminants. Air tests proved to show “normal” rates of many chemicals but held a “severe” rating for paints and varnishes. At the Aug. 5 governing board meeting several parents complained of fumes and claimed that their children were sick after being in Sierra’s classrooms for a week.
