Two Indiana farmer-owned agriculture cooperatives announced Tuesday that they are exploring the possibility of a merger in the future.

Huntingburg-based Superior Ag and Seymour-based Premier Companies said the move has been approved by their respective boards of directors.

In a joint news release, the co-ops said the decision doesn’t come from a place of necessity, but rather a “strategic position of commitment to innovation and even deeper value for their farmer-members.”
