Makenna Ann Massi was a 14-year-old who loved the Eagles, believed in the power of laughter and family, and dreamed that one day there would be a cure for childhood cancer. She died in 2018 after a nine-month fight with acute myeloid leukemia.

To honor her memory, the Fight On Makenna Foundation was created to support children and families facing pediatric cancer. One of its biggest efforts is the Bite for the Fight Food Festival and silent auction, scheduled for Sept. 13. The event aims to raise $200,000 to support programs at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, including free parking for families, exercise programs and healthy meals for patients. CHOP follows 6,000 oncology patients each year, and 20% of them benefit from Fight On Makenna’s support.
