ST PAUL, Minn. — A committee of lawmakers will be meeting Wednesday to discuss safety changes at and around the State Capitol.
It's the advisory committee's first meeting since two lawmakers and their families were shot at home, and a man was arrested for trespassing on the Capitol grounds three times in the span of 24 hours.
The governor skirted around a question about a ban on guns there on Tuesday, but said he supports metal detectors and the State Patrol's decision to limit public entrances.
Walz said at the end of the day, they have to strike a balance between access to lawmakers and safety.
"If you have to walk through one door and you have to walk through a metal detector and you can't be carrying a gun, I don't think that prohibits you from doing everything you have to do,"
