US Vice President JD Vance and US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth visiting Union Station on Wednesday to speak with National Guard members who have been positioned at the station.
They were met by protesters inside Union Station.
Associated Press video journalist Rick Gentilo was there when the US leaders arrived.
“I was here just to take video of the National guardsmen, unaware of this visit, when we saw the motorcade come in and go inside the Union Station, so we ran in along with the protesters to see what was happening,” Gentilo said.
The protesters heckled and screamed at Vance and Hegseth as they entered a Shake Shack within the station.
“The protesters were happy to greet them with very bad language, yelling and screaming. They were not happy. They wanted to say that they were not with the National Guardsmen being in the city,” Gentilo said.
