SURFSIDE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) -- Would-be candidates for three Surfside Beach town council seats can begin filing papers on Friday to run in November's nonpartisan general election, officials said.
The filing period for the Nov. 4 election ends at noon on Sept. 5. Candidates can file their paperwork in the town clerk’s office at 210 Highway 17 S. by scheduling an appointment with the town clerk or visiting the office between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old, a registered voter, and a Surfside Beach resident for at least 30 days. There is a $75 filing fee.
Because the election is nonpartisan, no party affiliations will appear on the ballot. The last date to register to vote in the election is Oct. 3.
