Cedar Bluff Police Officer Resigns; Council Holds Special Meeting

Cedar Bluff — A resignation in the Cedar Bluff Police Department has prompted town officials to meet in a special session this week.

Mayor Tammy Crane called a special town council meeting for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a letter of resignation from Officer Shane Butler, who submitted a two-week notice effective August 19 through September 2.

Once the meeting was called to order, the council immediately entered into executive session at the mayor’s request. The closed session lasted one hour and 37 minutes. When council members reconvened, they voted to formally accept Officer Butler’s resignation before adjourning.
