SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Family and community members will come together to honor the victim of a fatal shooting in the MLK neighborhood.

On August 22, a candlelight vigil will be held for LaBriesha Patterson, the victim of a tragic shooting on Dr. Martin Luther King Drive on August 18.

Patterson was 28 years old and was the mother of two sons.

“LaBriesha Ann Patterson was a beautiful, smart, talented, spunky, outgoing 28 year old mother of two sons, that had great energy to light up any room. Unfortunately, she has joined her brother Dev and uncle Derrick, all lost their lives to gun violence in Shreveport,” says a statement from the family.

Patterson’s family says that this is the third death in their family from gun violence in Shreveport. The other two deaths were Derrick Patterson
