SAINT PAUL, Minn. — U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar renewed her push this week for federal legislation to crack down on AI-generated "deepfakes," after a fake video went viral on social media in recent weeks manipulating Klobuchar's voice into making inappropriate comments.

The video in question, which remains active in various X posts, depicts Sen. Klobuchar talking in vulgar language about a jeans ad featuring the actress Sydney Sweeney. On Wednesday, Klobuchar penned an editorial in The New York Times titled, "What I Didn't Say About Sydney Sweeney," and on Thursday she spoke with KARE 11 about her concerns during a visit to the Minnesota State Fair.
