HOUSTON — The Houston Astros are reportedly bringing in one of the most accomplished closers in MLB history.
Houston is signing veteran reliever Craig Kimbrel, according to reports. It appears to have been first reported by Jeff Passan.
Kimbrel, 37, has been in the league since 2010, and if he pitches in the majors with Houston, it'll be his ninth team.
He most recently pitched for the Braves earlier this season.
Kimbrel's 440 saves rank fifth all-time. He's also made the All-Star Game nine times and won the Rookie of the Year award in 2011, his first full season in MLB. He's been in the top 10 for Cy Young Award voting five times in his career, most recently in 2017 with the Red Sox. He also earned Most Valuable Player votes three times in his career.
