ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Albany County has received over $1 million in funding from the state for broadband expansion projects targeting unserved areas.

The county applied for the funding through the ConnectALL Deployment Program-County Partnerships Program, which was available to New York State counties that had already identified internet service provider (ISP) partners. The county mapped out unserved addresses and received responses from five providers representing projects in seven towns.

The county selected proposals from State Tel, Mid-Hudson, and Archtop ISPs. They will cover around 1,000 unserved addresses in the Towns of Coeymans, Berne, Westerlo, Rensselaerville, Knox, New Scotland, and Bethlehem. These projects will lead to Albany County having about 95% coverage by highspeed
