POWERS — Edward M. Land, 98, of Powers passed away at the Oscar G. Johnson Veterans Community Living Center in Iron Mountain, Wednesday, August 13, 2025 where he had been a resident for 2 months. Ed was born in Chicago on August 21, 1926 to the late Edward and Helene (Steffensen) Land.

He proudly served his country in the Pacific Theater in WWII with the Army 511th Airborne. Ed met the love of his life, Lorraine Ehrhardt, in 1947 while working at U.S. Steel in Chicago. They married on October 1, 1949 and had two sons, Cal and Jeff. After working various manufacturing jobs in Chicago and Milwaukee, and chasing Steelhead and Brook Trout all over NE Wisconsin and the UP, Ed moved his family to Powers in 1966 where he purchased U.P.
