Hurricane Erin moved away from the East Coast on Friday after bringing flooding, strong winds and rip currents to the Jersey Shore and coastal Delaware on Thursday.

Flooding occurred in several parts of the Jersey Shore Thursday night, including Ocean City and Sea Isle City in Cape May County and Margate City in Atlantic County.

In Margate, firefighters rescued 16 people from their cars and 30 others from a restaurant on Amherst Avenue during the flooding.

Wind speeds will turn calmer but the high rip current risk extends through Saturday. A Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 2 a.m. Saturday for Kent and inland Sussex counties in Delaware as well as Cumberland and Cape May counties in New Jersey, according to the National Weather Service.
