Riverside County is the focus of an updated extreme heat warning released at 1:49 a.m. on Friday by the National Weather Service. The warning is in effect until Saturday Aug. 23, at 8 p.m.

The NWS Phoenix AZ adds to prepare for, “Dangerously hot conditions. Afternoon temperatures of 107 to 116 degrees. Major Heat Risk.”

“Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. Overexposure can cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion to develop and, without intervention, can lead to heat stroke,” the NWS said.
